BAR SUPER
In March 2025, we finally opened the doors of our new [ad]venture Bar Super!
Bar Super is an ode to market life, celebrating fresh products, stallholders and their savoir-faire and this much needed direct and intimate relation with our neighbours that either live or work in the borough.
Come and try it out, book your table at Bar Super.
With direct views on the Mercat Santa Caterina in the Born district - mins away from Bar Brutal - the clue is in the location! SUPER Mercado!
Stefano imagined a 60’s-70’s Italian trattoria - with a Barcelona twist - where his customers could lunch comfortably on tasty fresh produce in a beautiful spot without being priced out and dine al fresco in a cosy unpretentious setting.
Before settling for Bar Super, the project initially was titled Ramon, echoing Bar Joan who sits inside the mercat Santa Caterina, a love letter for Joan Ramon - Bar Brutal’s partner and winemaker extraordinaire and additionally for Ramon de los Heros - the luminary artists and maker behind the restaurant’s furniture and lighting.
While Ramon was busy sketching away the brief, Michele Angelo worked on the visual identity, developing a bold modernist code to translate both Bar Super’s more traditional concept and its playful nature.
Ramon interpreted Michele's work in 3d and produced custom-made furniture in his Badalona workshop before finally fitting it all in for a warm and charming result, with lots of personality.
To announce the opening and introduce the concept of the new restaurant, Michele also imagined the campaign “Gent de Mercat” to symbolise the close knit relationship with the market vendors as the core of Bar Super's identity, calling in his friend - uber talented photographer Leonardo Ventura to shoot the campaign.
Michele's deep typography work allowed us to play extensively for varied applications from digital to physical.
Meanwhile, Stefano and Max together with Jordi Colpani - the head chef - developed a straightforward a la carte menu. Lots to choose from, yet not too much!
Plates praising seasonality, championing freshness, lauding the true taste and texture of the products and priced reasonably!
On wine duties, the brief for David Garcia - manager and head sommelier - was simple: investigate the spanish territory to select tasty, crisp and clean biological and natural wines that would bridge the gap in the market between non-natural and natural wines spots.
Last but not least in pure Bar Brutal fashion to mark the opening and baptised the new restaurant we threw a party and invited our friends Shohei Yasuda and Kentaro Emoto from iconic one michelin star Kabi to come, cook and pour wine all the way from Meguro, Tokyo!
We are proud of Bar Super and we look forward to joining us for lunch, for a vermut and or dinner!
